Mthunzi Funeral Plan is a funeral product that offers end to end funeral services and benefits on death of any life assured. With one monthly premium, you will cover yourself, your spouse, children, and other dependants such as parents.
The product, offered by Old Mutual Life Assurance Company Limited with end-to-end funeral services provided by Mthunzi Funeral services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited, is available to individuals, associations, groups, and corporates.
The product package is affordable as a customer can choose a plan that suits their pocket.
This is a cash benefit that is paid in the event that:
The policyholder is allowed to upgrade and downgrade the selected package, however, on cover upgrade, the general waiting period will apply. During this waiting period, the insureds will have access to the package before the change has been initiated
A customer can choose from any of the three packages below depending on their preferences.

The Plan is suitable for you if:
The Plan offers the various funeral services on the death of the Lives Assured on the Plan as well as cash benefits to you, the Policyholder, or beneficiaries.
The Lives Assured are your Spouse, Children, parents, the parents of your spouse or other relatives financially dependent on you. There are age limits that will apply to your parents and your spouse’s parents to be covered as Lives Assured on the Plan
The death benefit is the funeral services provided plus the cash grocery allowance and bus allowance (where selected). The policy is mainly a funeral services policy, hence the main benefit is funeral services provided by Mthunzi Funeral Services Company.
The cover options available are; Mthunzi Lite, Mthunzi Standard, and Mthunzi Premier.
The Policyholder can select any of the three cover options offered under the Mthunzi Funeral Services Policy. The services offered will be the standard default offering provided by Mthunzi Funeral Services Company at the time of claim. All lives covered must be under the same cover option.
