Mthunzi Funeral Services Limited has partnered with the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust in this year’s Mount Mulanje Porters Race, slated for 8 July 2023 at Likhubula in Mulanje district.
The Porters race, one of Malawi’s extreme sports, is organized to raise awareness about environmental conservation, sustainability practices and promoting tourism.
Mthunzi Funeral Services Limited collaboration in organizing the race demonstrates the company’s commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
Mthunzi Funeral Services Limited General Manager, Onismas Karakadzai says the Mount Mulanje Porters race showcases the participants’ physical prowess and highlights the importance of preserving the natural beauty and resources of the country.
“Mthunzi is an environmentally conscious company. You may wish to know that we are involved in seasonal tree-planting initiatives annually. But besides that, we provide a tree seedling for every service we render to clients to ensure memory for a departed loved one and also in efforts to replenish trees which is a key raw material for coffins,- a key product offered by Mthunzi Funeral Services,” he said.
The Mount Mulanje Porters race is an annual event which started in 1996, and it draws participants from diverse backgrounds, including local communities, outdoor enthusiasts, and environmentally conscious individuals.
